Post form countertops are made in standard sized lengths and come pre assembled complete with backsplash. During the course of a recent kitchen remodel i recovered a laminate countertop with newer more brightly colored laminate sheeting with a granite type pattern. You can build a laminate countertop from scratch or purchase a pre manufactured countertop which is called a post form countertop. The laminate comes in thin rigid sheets that you secure to a countertop frame using contact cement.

And instead of building all new countertops with new plywood and everything we decided to install the new laminate right over the old laminate which made this project so much faster. It is an economical covering compared to other surfaces and very durable not scratching or chipping easily. Yes but the existing surface must be even and smooth. If installing new sheet laminate over old laminate material first thoroughly sand and clean the old surface. When we started this kitchen project we had no intention of doing anything with the existing countertops. Repair any gouges or loose edges and make sure the existing laminate is glued firmly.
